2018 SPIRIT FESTIVAL GAVE US LIFE

2018 SPIRIT FESTIVAL GAVE US LIFE

The weather was perfect, the venue is always perfect, the atmosphere was perfect and all of this year’s Spirit Festival Performances left us wanting even more.

All of the DMV descended on the Merriweather Post Pavillon to enjoy great food, vendors, fun and musical vibes. This years line up did not disappoint.

Method Man and Redman open the “back door” to take us back to the era of late 90’s and early 2000’s rap and hip hop music delivering an unforgettable performance that had the crowd rock’in and standing on their seats.

Nas always brings his A-game. Stirring the crowd up with engaging visuals on the big screen and proving why is one of the greatest lyricists of all time, Nasir did not come to play. He blessed our ears with his iconic tunes such as “One Mic” as the crowd rapped in unison and gave us some of some of his new music, Bonjour, from his recently released album entitled “Nasir”. He left it all on the stage and performed until he was completely drench from the unbearable late summer heat. Thank you Nas.

Our girl Eyrkah was laser-focused, literally. She performed hits while surrounded by a laser prism that took us into her dimension. Her visuals are always beautiful, but nothing can compare to her amazing voice. Her voice caressed the crowd as she “sang” all of our favorite Badu tracks. We wanted more and more and more. We didn’t get the all time crowd mover “Tyrone”, but they way Ms. Badu kilt “Block on Lock” we forgot all about Tyrone coming to get his ish, a little bit anyway.

Another 2018 Spirit Festival is in the books and we are already counting down to next summer.
